Past Presidents
The Council for Exceptional Children: Texas has a long and distinguished history spanning over 50 years. Many well-known names in the special education field have been closely associated with CEC-TEXAS over the decades of its existence and it has long been a strong and influential voice for special education professionals and for services to exceptional children in Texas.
CEC-TEXAS is affiliated with the Council for Exceptional Children, the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and/or the gifted. CEC-TEXAS is comprised of all the CEC members within the state of Texas. When you become a member of CEC, you automatically become a member of the Texas CEC Federation.
CEC-TEXAS is a non-profit organization including professional educators, related services personnel, and others working on behalf of individuals with exceptionalities. CEC-TEXAS supports CEC to advance the educational success of students with disabilities and/or gifts and talents and support those who serve this special population.
CEC-TEXAS provides its membership a means for networking and continuing professional development by sponsoring the Annual TCEC State conference and other professional development events, publishing quarterly newsletters, and supporting the activities and positions of the Council for Exceptional Children.
The Texas Council for Exceptional Children is governed by an Executive Board, consisting of elected officers and appointed chairs of various functions. All members of the CEC-TEXAS Board are volunteers who give of their time for no compensation to support and promote the mission of CEC and CEC-TEXAS.
